The city became rich during the time of the hanseatic league, of which 3 gigantic churches and countless magnificent buildings still bear witness today. The medieval city center has been largely preserved, which is why Stralsund was elected a UNESCO world heritage site in 2002.

Today, the city has risen from its ashes and offers a multitude of holiday activities. Next to its historic heritage, the other recurrent theme is the sea. No less than 3 museums highlight different aspects of the marine environment, while the harbour and the strait in front of it offer a wide range of water sports.
